So I end up with a jigsaw puzzle of stereo punches to merge for my "almost there' just make a few tweaks" mix. I usually have to run from the start of the song to get a correct automation pass, and even then, not always. Each one a night mare starting when I am at that full "maxed out ready to bounce the mix" state. Unfortunately, I have many "almost finished" master in DP to complete. Each pass, different automations read wrong. And, consistent automation on heavy files using lots of Aux and Master bus plug ins that are automated Always plays back so bad, I have to do tens of punches on a mix to get the correct mix. I'll make a change with a fader ride, next time I play back, it sometimes plays the old automation, as if the pre buffers hadn't caught up yet. I think it has something to do with prebuffering. but I just don't find DP that crashy, not anymore or less than any other DAW I use.Īutomation in DP 10 just sucks. I am definitely not trying to be that guy, I have my own issues with DP, mainly slow development of features like MPE and Articulation/Expression mapping etc. where it's a hard crash, Reaper just disappears, and I never got around to setting up auto save in Reaper. It's better than what happens with Reaper etc. It's about 50/50 that an update in the plug in or in DP resolves it. that's a typical plug in bug related crash. (This seems like asking for trouble, so I don't-fortunately I hadn't done much since the last save.)ĭP 10 Bug of the Week: Schrödinger's Crash. When I go to close the file, the crashed app asks me if I want to save it. Yet, it also hasn't crashed, because I'm staring at a moving transport and all the usual windows. So DP has crashed-and I confirm this by sending MOTU a crash report. And then I notice the dreaded DP-bug-with-alert-icon bouncing in the dock. The chunk list appearance has been improved at different list font sizes. Here's a new one: in the midst of making an adjustment in Superior Drummer, sound stops abruptly. In the Sequence Editor, MIDI mute automation data is now displayed as ramps, similar to audio mute automation. When using an articulation with a MIDI channel output, all channelized MIDI events are now played on that channel, instead of just notes. This allows quantizing of automation data. In the Custom settings in the Quantize window, you can now disable the Move audio effect plug-in automation with soundbites option, while keeping All selected in the filter pane.Importing MIDI files from MuseScore™ has been enhanced. When using the Merge Tracks by Channel command, and an instrument track is selected, MIDI data is merged into the instrument track. The Track Record Enable command (and similar commands that allow you to choose a track) now lets you enter tracks above 99 with numeric entry. When using the MCU single-fader plug-in, toggling the automation mode affects the "selected" track (or the last known selected track).Meter animation during playback has been optimized. You can also scale music notation relative to page size on both Mac and Windows (from 10-500%) and save the setting with the project. In QuickScribe you can now graphically select and delete articulations.A new MIDI event type has been added to support intuitive recording and editing of registered controllers (RPNs) and assignable controllers (NRPNs).Projects with large numbers of audio tracks open and switch chunks much faster.
